Juss So Ya Know….

If you ever call my home phone, the only reason that I actually have an answering machine is so that the damn phone will stop ringing after four rings. I probably will not return your phone call based on that message. I do have caller ID, however, and I could probably deduct from seeing that you called that you may have something you want to say to me. That’s when I may or may not decide to call you back. So, unless you are part of the Army of Discover Card Natzis that hound me all day long, then please email me and I will read it and laugh and say something back and it will be a much more pleasant experience for everyone involved.

Little Roo Update

My Little Roo is totally back to normal. He still has all of his bo-bos and stitches, but he is acting like his old self. He is barking at the neighbors dogs and at the garage door; he has been rolling on the floor with Mazzy (with supervision); he has been trying to jump on and off of everything; he goes up and down the stairs. It’s really an amazing recovery and thank you all for being concerned. It means alot to me. Now I can get back to business and get in this challenge with you all.

This is really cute. I don’t think it favors either side, so don’t be mad at me if you think it does.

The Story That I Don’t Want to Tell You

I should have trusted my gut instinct. My dogs, a two year old dachshund (Leroy) and a one year old pit bull (Mazzy), have always shared the same crate. I’ve had my pit bull since she was three days old. She loves that little weenie dog. The first rule of having a pit bull though is to never trust your pit not to fight other dogs. Friday night, I put them in their crate like I always do and I was probably gone for 45 minutes. I came home and they were silent when I opened the door, which never happens. They always have so much to say when I come home. So, I went upstairs to their crate and there was some pee and dog mess in the crate. I went to get the weenie dog out to put him in the tub and that’s when I noticed all the blood. E was about to wrap Leroy in his towel and he was just dripping blood. I started looking for the wound and noticed a cut under his arm pit. I went to move his arm and then I really saw his injuries for what they were. She had bitten him across his chest and it tore him open about three inches down and about four inches deep on each side. I actually saw his muscle when I moved his arm. He was totally silent like he was in shock and I went into total hysterics. I found a 24 hour emergency vet in the phone book that was close (it was midnight) and we took him there. I sobbed and shook the whole way there. Then, they took him back and told us that he would need surgery to investigate the wounds further to make sure she didn’t tear any of his chest muscles or crush any of his organs. Then, they bring me the estimate and it was $879.00. Of course, I’ll pay whatever it takes to make him better. So, they do the surgery. Luckily, nothing inside is damaged. He just has some really bad bites. There were more than just those two once they started looking, but those were definitely the worst ones. We picked him up at 8am and had to take him to our regular vet to keep him on Morphine and fluids for the day. That would be another $319 for that, please, thank you. That kind of pissed me off actually. They did totally unnecessary crap and charged more than the emergency clinic, which we know price gouged me. Anyway, so he leaves with a body bandage and drain tubes and Morphine. The whole thing is so fucked up. I knew better. They had separate crates. They just liked being together and I am the pack leader and I should have just made them do it. Mazzy really is a good dog. She didn’t mean to hurt him. If it had been an instinct thing, she would have gone for his throat and she would have killed him. Something told her to stop. I think she was playing and it just went too far. He probably pulled back and made the injuries that much worse. So, now I am dealing with a very sore and torn up little boy. He’s such a trooper though. He’s wagging his tail and giving kisses again as of yesterday so things are looking up. And Mazzy cannot understand why we won’t let her near him. This sucks. Pray for my little Roo.
