This clumsy cajun is really a decent cook. My speciality is sweet potato pie. I swear I could eat twenty of them between now and Christmas. I haved vowed that I will not do so under any circumstances. What’s your favorite Thanksgiving/Christmas treat?

Well, we don’t have Thanksgiving, so it’s a Christmas treat for me - every year I make this pie - it sounds disgusting - from a recipe that has been passed down through at least 4 generations now. When my grandma was a girl she had it, when my dad was a boy he had it, when I was a girl, I had it - and now I make it for my girls too. We have it every Christmas Eve, no other time of the year, not ever not never. It’s basically mashed potato, minced beef, onion and gravy all mixed together and put into a pastry base - carbohydrate and calorie overload, sounds vile but is in fact delicious - and it means Christmas to me.

I’m with you on the sweet potato pie. Also, eggnog. And all the cookies that nobody ever makes during the regular year, but could, because there’s no law against it. Oh, and buckeyes. And your mom’s peanut butter fudge, which I thought about two nights ago as I was up for a midnight feeding with Hadley.
