It looks fake, but it’s not. Let’s hope I don’t kill this one. What is the freaking deal with orchids anyway? I googled it and they want me to do waaayyy too much to keep this fucker alive. So, I’ll take my chances that sun and water are enough like any other plant.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I just haven’t feel witty or like there was anything worth talking about. I’ve basically just been trying to make my home a happy home and be a normal couple. Lord knows we need some of that. We’ve had major ups and downs for the better part of our nine years together, but I really feel like this time might be the one that sticks in the good.

Anyway, so I’ve been unpacking (still, yes) and buying things for the house. I start back up with my trainer this week. That should be awful. I haven’t gone to the gym since September. Damn it. Lord being chunky is difficult. It’s always a battle. Always. And it forever will be is the bad news. I need to just accept that I will always have to work on staying in shape and healthy. Neither of those things come easy to me.

We got a table and chairs finally after all this time. I feel all growed up now. Ignore the crappy window treatments. That is next on my list.

I was searching so desperately for something out there when it was here with me all along. Thank God I never found it. You are what I want and need in my life. I love you. Please know that and don’t ever forget it. You mean the world to me.

The current issue of the prestigious New Yorker Magazine (February 6) has a wonderful piece by Malcolm Gladwell, author of the bestselling books “Blink” and “The Tipping Point.” The cover of the magazine bills the story as, “The problem with profiling. Is there any accurate way to determine who is going to behave badly?” But the article, on page 38, focuses largely on pitbulls and is headed, “What pit bulls can teach us about profiling.” It is balanced and informative, pointing out real issues with the breed, but also making the point that the vast majority of pitbulls are not human aggressive. It argues that breed banning is hardly the most effective way to prevent dog attacks.
