2006 Recap

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dawn @ 4:14 pm

January: moved into a new rental house. It’s newer and nicer than the previous one, but now I pretty much hate it too. I have a thing with not liking places I live after about a year. I think the dogs have alot to do with it.
February: Got my first dining room table. Yeah, I know. It was an exciting month.
March: Fell in love with roller derby. Decided that I wanted to try out for the league. Never happened on account on what happened in June. Try outs were going to be held in September.
April: I turned 30. Not too eventful really.
May: My beloved Mazzy dog passed away. God, how I miss her still. She was the best dog I’ve ever had. We got the new puppy, Kona, the week after we lost her. I can’t say that I feel the same way about him. He’s kind of, well, dumb actually. I DO love him. It’s just not the same.
June: Quit working for the most insane bitch attorney in all of Austin. Thank God. Celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary. There were times in the past year when I didn’t think we’d make it to that point, but we did and I’m thankful for that.
July: Found out on July 5th that we were (are) pregnant. Lord, I’ve never been so scared in all my life. I think in the back of my head that I’d been wanting to have a baby since I turned 30 and was just so scared that it would never happen. However, we were still very very careful because I felt like the timing wasn’t right. I guess God went ahead and made that decision for me.
August: Thought alot about moving back to Louisiana when baby gets here.
September: Traded in my gorgeous pickup truck for a more gas friendly SUV. I’m slowly getting more used to the idea. Quit feeling like I might puke everyday.
October: Found out that baby is of the boy variety. Thrilled! Knew it all along. Changed my name to my new last name at long last. That only took me a year and a half. My brother passed away. Pretty hard to deal with.
November: Changed my website layout. Not much else to report for November. Oh, we finished the baby nursery also. That was exciting.
December: Tummy is getting bigger and things are starting to feel really real on the baby front. He’s almost here and I’m getting excited/scared.

The Queen of Austin

If you have ever been to Austin or lived in Austin, you will know exactly who this is. You can get this at Book People downtown. It, of course, comes with more outfits. Lots of you will be confused by this but it is a homeless guy that lives in Austin named Leslie and he dresses up like a woman. He doesn’t put on the makeup but he wears fake boobs. During the summer, he usually has on a string bikini. You can take pictures with him for a small fee which I think goes to his mayoral campaign. He runs every year and surprisingly gets alot of votes. It goes without saying that he is totally freaking nuts. He also has a myspace page. This is why we love Austin.

Have you seen Talladega Nights where Ricky Bobby is wearing the Crystal Gayle t-shirt? Well, I found it and am ordering one right now! That is tooooo funny.

Kids

My 14 year old stepson is coming to stay with us for over a week at the end of the month. This will be my first time meeting him. It’s very exciting but also very strange. I’m trying to come up with a menu and a list of things to do. Elvee suggested the Alamo (zzzzzzzzz). I would not have cared less about the Alamo at 14! We can’t very well take him to a bar though. Maybe it’ll be 80 degrees and we can go for a hike. And by we, I actually mean they. I think hiking is against the rules of pregnancy.

Oh, and we bought tickets to see this guy in January. This will be my second time this year and oh, how I love him. Seriously, if you get a chance to see Joe Rogan live, do it. It made me laugh so hard that I was sore the next day. Good times. Although I’ll probably need a diaper this time. My bladder control is not so good anymore!

Rant

Email I sent to XM Radio just now.

Dear XM Radio,
The people that work for you are completely incompetent. After I make it through the endless loop of your automated system, I spoke to someone to continue my trial service. I repeatedly told her that I wanted to pay for ONE month at a time. One. However, she barely spoke English since you obviously outsource to India, she could not understand basic English. She charged me for three months. I did not have enough money for three months in my bank account and I have subsequently been charged bank fees. I would love for you to write a letter to my bank to tell them that it was your mistake but I’m sure there is no way to explain that to someone in INDIA. I called back and demanded a refund of the difference between one month and three or I wanted to have my account completely cancelled. I was told the difference would be credited to my account. Obviously whoever I spoke with the second time values making you money as much as the first girl did so she cancelled my account completely. I gave her the choice. I would have accepted staying with XM Radio and paying for the one month. I’m glad that your very unskilled workers can recite their little sales speeches so well but they cannot understand basic English back in response. That made my decision to NEVER use XM Radio again very easy for me.

Dumb Dog

I haven’t posted a picture of this dummy in a while. I’ve had issues uploading pictures lately. All my server space is used by some stupid spam emails that go to the account that came with my hosting. I never even use that account. Problem is being worked on though. Anyway, big dumb animal for your entertainment.

I told the stupid, no English Indian bitch yesterday at XM Radio 5 times that I only wanted to pay for one month. She offered me 3 months (no, thank you), 6 months (no, thank you) and a year (again, no). I just want a month. ONE MONTH. So then, why did she charge me for 3? A little language problem, perhaps? Seriously. I am going to quit using companies that do not have Americans working for them. I don’t care that she has a family to support. SO DO I! I’ve been fired for less so why don’t these people have anyone that they have to answer to?

Outsourcing

Outsourcing to India really bites my ass. I can’t get a job in my own country because people there will work for next to nothing. Then when I call in to get anything accomplished, it is next to impossible. Sounds bad? Yes. Does the pregnant lady care? No. Can-I-help-you? Have-I-an-swered-your-ques-tion-satis-factor-ily? It’s like talking to a freaking pushy sales Speak N Spell.
