Baby Shower

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dawn @ 3:40 pm

My friend, Lissa, held a baby shower for us on Saturday. It was so special and amazing. Having something like that done for you just makes you really appreciate how much people love you. I got so many amazing gifts. I had this list made up of things that I would need immediately for baby and the sheer magnitude of it was stressing me out. Well, I got pretty much everything on that list and then some. Thank you all so much. I feel so grateful and so happy that so many people care so much already about Gage. I’m off to do my thank you notes now because I really have alot to be thankful for.

Updating

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dawn @ 2:20 pm

I have gotten so bad about updating around here. It’s already been two weeks since I last did.

I only have six more weeks of being pregnant. That is so strange to me. It feels like I’ve been pregnant for a hundred years but I’m not ready for it to be over just yet either. Fear of the unknown, I guess. I’ve never been a mommy. There are no breaks from being a mommy. I’m a huge quiter when I don’t like doing something and I think that’s what really scares the crap of out me the most. I can decide to up and not do it anymore. Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure you become a mom and cannot imagine how you ever lived life without that child. I totally get that. And I know that I’ll be good at it. I’m just scared is all.

On a side note…. today is our baby shower. I’m so stinking excited. I can’t wait to see my friends and just hang out with grownups. I know my days doing that for a while are limited. I have such awesome friends that go so out of their way for me. I am hoping I can keep it together and not cry my eyes out there.

Hair

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dawn @ 12:36 am

I had to go to hair class today. Just like I figured, I could not do it myself. I tried three times and all three times it ended up fluffy and helmet-headish. I have purchased 9631 products in the past week and surprisingly, they don’t just work because I tell them to. I have to kind of know what I’m doing. Apparently, there was alot that I was doing pretty wrong. My hair just makes me nervous. It looks good today but it probably won’t after I do it tomorrow. Can I just never wash it again?

Husband + Photography = Ugly Pictures

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dawn @ 12:30 am

My husband takes the WORST pics in the history of picture taking. I have no idea what to do about this little problem. I see lots of headless baby pictures in the upcoming album. Here is the evidence from some pictures that I asked him to take of me pregnant. You can see the whole set here.

Taken

Funny things my husband has said/done lately:

  • We were driving back from Dallas and he stopped at 7-11 to get something to drink. He drinks those stupid Nitro/Amped/Make Your Brain Shake drinks. So, we get about a mile down the road and he starts itching and telling me that it’s like a thousand electric needles are in his neck and his head is feeling full of blood. Then he asks me to check the ingredients and see if there is something in it that he might be allergic to (yeah, probably the freaking crack). I check and I’m like “no, but the very first line on the freaking bottle is “Your body will feel super-charged with energy as Xtreme Shock sends an electric-like pulse through your body.”
  • He has taken to using my bathroom here lately. I have no clue as to why. Today he comes home and tells me that he doesn’t like my Dove lotion. He says that he put tons of it on and it just wasn’t right. I respond with, “I’m sure you didn’t like my Dove lotion. That’s because you lathered yourself in handsoap.” Can you imagine walking around with goops of handsoap stuck to you all day?

Back up, girls. He is ALL MINE. (I had to stand at the grocery store and take the following photo no less than 3 times until I had captured his hilarity perfectly. He found this immensely entertaining. I just wanted ice cream.)

Had to Go

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dawn @ 12:30 am

My hair was driving me nuts. It has been the exact same since I was about 14 or so. Long curly hair is pretty but it is also time consuming and really kind of blah after a while. In the past six months, I have worn my hair down and fixed up curly approximately 3 times. The rest of the time it has been in a pony tail or a bun. Total waste of time. So yesterday, I decided to chop it all off and got an appointment for today. It will save me so much time with the new baby. I really like it. I feel so free. Husband loves it as well. The only thing really to fret about now is “can I duplicate what the stylist did without shaking and sweating and mostly…. crying?” My hair ritual now involves things such as a round brush and Biosilk and a chi iron. Foo fee. I have already figured out a way to get the top part into a tiny tiny clip as well. Bangs just aren’t good for dinner time.

Happy New Year

Filed under: Uncategorized — Dawn @ 6:23 pm

Things floating in my head:
1. 2007 should be interesting. We will have this new person in our lives soon. Lord, I hope we don’t screw that up.
2. Stepson is here for the week and I am sick of all things BOY. They have been playing video games, watching 762 football games, listening to nothing but hip hop music and eating alot. I will need my own wing of the house in 15 years when the baby is a grown boy.
3. I created quite the ruckus at the nail salon yesterday with my black OPI nail polish. I brought it in and wanted my nails and toes done in that color. All I hear is “blah blah blah (Vietnamese) black blah blah black. Black blah.” and then laughter. Oh how funny the black polish was! The girl that was doing my feet kept trying to conivince me to use another color. It was pretty funny actually. It was the most freaking random nail salon. It was cold out last night and they had it so hot in there. There was steam on the windows and doors from the pedicure chairs. Then, the water was almost cold when she started on me. Then I got a manicure and one bowl of water was hot and one was ice cold. I went to the bathroom and got spayed in the back of the head by the air freshner thingy. Tracy and I could not stop laughing at the sheer ghettoness of it all.
4. I have found a few friends lately via myspace or otherwise that I hadn’t talked to in a long time. Good friends. I am so happy to have found them. I will not ever lose them again if it takes everything in me. Go tell your girlfriends that you love them. Good ones are hard to come by.
